I am so excited to get to know you more. I bring my whole self to this work, which includes my fight for equity and justice. I am not a photographer who separates my beliefs and passions from photographing humans because I don’t believe they’re separate. I can't ask you to be vulnerable if I'm not willing to do the same.
Wondering about the best places for a Boston elopement? For couples looking for the perfect place to elope in Boston, you don’t have to look any further! I’ve been a Boston wedding photographer for years and have seen some of the most beautiful places for a small and intimate ceremony.
Whether it’s an esplanade by the harbor, a garden tucked away in the city, or even an urban rooftop with views of the skyline, there are so many amazing locations to choose from for your Boston elopement.
As someone who has captured many weddings around Boston and the greater Boston area, I understand how important finding just the right spot is in telling your story. With my vast experience as a wedding photographer, I’m here to help!
Here’s everything to know about having a Boston elopement.
To elope in Boston, you first have to get a marriage license at City Hall. Keep in mind that in Massachusetts, a marriage license can only be used for up to 60 days after it’s obtained from when you applied for it. It also must be used within the state.
In order to apply for said marriage license, you must make an appointment online. Once you receive the email confirmation, you’ll have to show up at your reserved time together in person with your $50 license fee, your Social Security numbers, and your IDs. You’ll have to provide a lot of information through a Marriage Intention form as well, including the names of your parents, where you were born, etc.
After about three days, you’ll be able to go and pick up your license. For your marriage to be registered, whoever performs your actual ceremony (whether it’s a priest, justice of the peace, or minister, etc.) needs to fill out the license and have it returned back to the City.
You can get a copy of your actual marriage certificate later by paying $12 in person or $14 via mail. While City Hall is great, you can also use a Justice of the Peace or minister to elope almost anywhere within the city.
Keep in mind that your timing does matter, as the last appointment is later in the afternoon. Be sure to think about what time you’d like to elope in Boston; I always suggest planning to elope around sunrise or sunset so that you have the most beautiful light. Sunrise means that you can also avoid the crowds, especially if you want to elope at a more touristy spot during the warmer weather months.
If you’re interested in having your furry friend involved, be sure to check out For the Love of Paws. No matter what time of year you choose to elope in Boston, make sure it’s because it’s truly right for both of you as a couple. It really is worth taking the time to consider all four seasons – each one offers something unique and wonderful!
Spring and fall are great times to elope in Boston if you want beautiful weather. In the fall, you get to experience the city’s famous fall foliage. On the other hand, winter may be a better time of year if you love snow and cold days more than sunshine. During the summer months, you can look forward to sunny skies, but since this is peak season, it may be more crowded in certain spots, so consider a sunrise elopement.
