Coastal Maine Wedding Inspiration // Newagen Seaside Inn // Maine Wedding Photographer

It was almost a year ago now that I attended the Darling Workshop. I drove up to Maine and I was a little nervous as it was my first big workshop, an entire weekend of learning and shooting! It’s even more crazy to reflect on all that has happened since that weekend and how much that April weekend with Jenn and the other ladies propelled my business forward. First things first, Jenn is a boss. For me, I need that balance of encouragement and kick in the pants that she embodies (in the best possible way) and I’ll be forever thankful for her support and wisdom. Just like anything in this creative world, workshops can be scary. The self doubt can creep in and make you second guess yourself. You compare. You wonder if you’re good enough. You question. But I think that pushing yourself and coming through those challenges and fears to the other side is so crucial to learning and growing as a photographer, or really as a person in general. So thank you to Jenn and the other amazing workshop attendees for that experience. It meant the world. Like any good learning experience, it takes time to process everything and some things you gain can’t be quanitfied, like the confidence to market and put yourself “out there”. There is no reward without risk so this year is all about taking the risk.

In addition to talking all things business, we also spent an entire day shooting a styled wedding at the beautiful Newagen Seaside Inn. My home state will forever have a special place in my heart, and Maine’s coast can’t be beat. Photographing love set against rocky cliffs overlooking the ocean sets my heart on fire. There’s just something so raw about the ocean, that push and pull of the tide much like a strong relationship. We started with getting ready photos in the little cottage on the property, before shooting all over the grounds and reception room, ending our time at sunset on the water for portraits. Though they were modeling for us, Megan and Zach are a real couple. The love between them is electric and every little touch between them is so filled with passion. Photographing them was effortless. It didn’t matter that there were almost a dozen people all around them, every frame feels like they’re the only ones on earth. And I love that.
